What do the calculations include?
Average emissions have been estimated from the data provided by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) based on the distance, type of aircraft, seats occupied and type of class in which it is traveled (the latter for intercontinental flights). From there the values that have been used in our calculator have been obtained. The values in the following table where obtained directly from the ICAO website. We have chosen some representative flights. Emissions are linked to distance, but the type of aircraft and the average occupation of the routes are also taken into account.
